Australian-Made Fabrication for the Agricultural Industry

Weld East Fabricators has been supporting Australian industry since 1982. Our agricultural fabrication services are built around the realities of WA farming, where red dust, coastal salt, fertiliser corrosion and tight seasonal windows create unique challenges that off-the-shelf parts often can’t meet.

What Is Agricultural Machinery Fabrication?

Agricultural fabrication is the design, manufacture and repair of metal components and structures used in farming operations.

This includes everything from seeding and harvesting attachments to grain handling infrastructure, livestock yards, irrigation systems and custom farm trailers. The work spans steel, stainless steel and aluminium, depending on the application and the conditions the part needs to withstand.

For WA farmers, local fabrication means faster turnaround and parts that are built specifically for your equipment and environment, not sourced from a generic catalogue.

Our Agricultural Metal Fabrication Services

We offer a full suite of general fabrication services relevant to the agricultural sector, all carried out in-house at our workshop.

CAD Design and Engineering

We work from your drawings, samples or concept descriptions to produce accurate CAD models before anything is cut or welded. This helps avoid costly errors and ensures the finished part fits the first time.

CNC Plasma Cutting

Our robotic plasma cutting handles plate up to 32mm thick, making it well suited to wear plates, tine assemblies, auger flights and seed boot components.

Pressing and Folding

Sheet metal guards, hopper cones and custom panels are formed using our pressing and folding equipment to precise tolerances.

Welding Services

Our qualified tradespersons weld carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium, covering everything from light sheet metal to heavy structural work. All welding follows AS/NZS 1554 structural steel welding standards, which is increasingly required by agricultural equipment insurers.

Surface Treatments

We coordinate hot-dip galvanising and apply industrial epoxy and powder coating can be co-ordinated to protect components against fertiliser attack and harsh outdoor conditions. This is particularly relevant given the well-documented corrosion risks that agricultural chemicals pose to metal equipment.

Repair and Refurbishment

Rather than replacing worn parts outright, we assess, repair and reinforce them, often improving the original design to reduce future wear. This approach delivers real cost effectiveness for farmers managing large equipment fleets.

Agricultural Industry Applications We Cover

Our team regularly works across the following areas:

  • Seeding and harvest attachments: tine assemblies, knife-points, header fronts, comb trailers
  • Grain handling: elevator buckets, auger tubes, conveyor frames, field bins
  • Livestock infrastructure: cattle yards, sheep ramps, feeder troughs, loading races
  • Irrigation systems: stainless steel distribution manifolds, pump bases, pipe bridges
  • Fertiliser and chemical storage: stainless hoppers, spray-rig tanks, bunded skids
  • Farm trailers and ute trays: custom lengths and heavy-duty drop-sides
  • Safety structures: protective guards and handrails to meet WorkSafe WA requirements

For corrosion-sensitive applications like fertiliser hoppers and spray equipment, our aluminium and stainless steel fabrication capability is particularly well suited.

Why WA Farmers Choose a Local Fabricator for Agricultural Operations

WA accounts for a large portion of national broadacre cropping and such a volume of production comes significant pressure on equipment reliability.

Sourcing parts from eastern states suppliers can add three to five days in freight alone. For a header sitting idle during harvest, that delay is costly. Our Perth workshop means faster response times, with no long freight waits and the ability to communicate directly with the team handling your job.

We also understand how WA conditions affect equipment. The abrasive red soils of the Wheatbelt, the coastal salt exposure in the southwest and the chemical load from modern fertiliser programmes all accelerate wear in ways that require material selection and coating choices suited to local realities.

    FAQs

Do you offer stainless or aluminium fabrication for fertiliser equipment?

Yes. We regularly fabricate stainless steel hoppers, spray-rig tanks and bunded skids for agricultural chemical and fertiliser applications. Grade 304 and 316 stainless steel are both available depending on the level of corrosion resistance required.

How fast can Weld East turn around urgent farm repairs in peak season?

Turnaround depends on the complexity of the work and our current schedule. We recommend contacting us ahead of your seeding or harvest window to plan production slots. For urgent repairs, contact our team directly on (08) 9274 3348 to discuss what’s possible.

Can you fabricate components to AS/NZS welding standards?

Yes. All structural welding is performed in accordance with AS/NZS 1554, and we can provide documentation to support compliance requirements where needed.

Do you provide on-site welding services in the Wheatbelt?

We recommend contacting us to discuss your location and requirements, as we can advise on the best approach for your situation.
