Australian-made fabrication for the manufacturing industry

Weld East Fabricators has been supplying custom metal fabrication to Australian industry since 1982. Manufacturers across Western Australia rely on us for component manufacturing that meets their exact specifications, from one-off prototypes through to repeat production runs.

We work with engineering managers, procurement teams and workshop supervisors to deliver metal components on time and to the quality standards their operations require.

Manufacturing clients need a fabrication partner who understands tight tolerances, consistent output and the real cost of delays. Our team combines over 40 years of hands-on experience with modern fabrication equipment to meet those demands.

Our metal fabrication services for manufacturing clients

Our general fabrication services cover the full range of what manufacturing operations typically require. We handle complete fabrication from raw material through to finished component, including:

  • Precision cutting of plate, sheet and profile
  • Metal bending and forming to your drawings
  • Welding and structural assembly
  • Surface preparation and protective coating
  • Design assistance and documentation support

We work with mild steel, structural steel, high-tensile steel, stainless steel and aluminium, selecting the right material for your application. Our

CNC plasma cutting capability handles plate up to 32mm thick, producing accurate profiles that reduce re-work and keep your lead times predictable.

For components where corrosion resistance or weight reduction is a priority, our aluminium and stainless steel fabrication covers grade 304 and 316 stainless steel as well as structural aluminium fabrication.

Metal fabrication processes

Manufacturing metal fabrication draws on a range of processes depending on the material, geometry and end-use requirements of the component. The core processes we use include:

  • CNC plasma cutting – precise profile cutting for steel and aluminium plate, with tight dimensional tolerances suitable for component manufacturing
  • Metal pressing and bending – forming sheet and plate to the desired shape using press brake and folding equipment
  • Welding – MIG, TIG and stick welding processes selected to suit the material and joint requirements
  • Rolling – producing curved profiles and tubular forms for a range of manufacturing applications
  • Flat packed – we can supply kits as flat packed for remote sites to fabricate together. The kits includes all pressed, cut parts and labelled for quick fabrication.
  • Assembly – bringing fabricated components together as sub-assemblies or complete units ready for installation or further processing

Each process is carried out by our skilled team, with internal quality checks at key stages to confirm dimensional accuracy before components move to the next step.

Materials for manufacturing applications

Material selection has a direct impact on component performance, cost and lead times. We work across the following materials for manufacturing clients:

  • Mild steel – cost-effective and versatile, suitable for a wide range of structural and mechanical components
  • High-tensile steel – where strength-to-weight ratio matters in demanding applications
  • Structural steel – for load-bearing frames, supports and machinery bases
  • Grade 304 and 316 stainless steel – for components requiring corrosion resistance in food processing, chemical and marine environments
  • Aluminium – lightweight and corrosion resistant, suited to applications where reduced mass is a design requirement

If you are unsure which material best suits your application, our team can provide input during the design phase to help you make an informed decision before fabrication begins.

Welding, finishing and quality control for manufacturing

All welding is carried out by qualified tradespersons in accordance with AS/NZS 1554 Structural Steel Welding standards. We apply the appropriate welding process to each job, whether MIG for production efficiency, TIG for precision on stainless and aluminium, or stick welding for heavier structural work.

For surface finishing, we offer sandblasting, powder coating, in-house painting to specification and hot-dip galvanising, providing the right level of corrosion protection for your operating environment. Full material traceability and quality assurance documentation are available on request.

Where project requirements specify it, we support non-destructive testing including magnetic particle inspection and ultrasonic testing. Manufacturing clients with strict incoming inspection requirements can request material certificates and test reports to satisfy their internal QA processes.

Why local, custom metal fabrication matters for manufacturers

Imported components can appear attractive on price, but extended lead times, limited traceability and compliance uncertainty carry real operational risk. We use Australian steel and fabricate in our Hazelmere and Bellevue workshops, which means shorter lead times, direct communication with the people building your parts and faster response when specifications change mid-project.

Working with a local fabricator in Perth also makes it straightforward to discuss drawings in person, review samples before committing to a production run, and resolve any issues without the delays that come with offshore suppliers. For manufacturing businesses where downtime has a direct cost, that responsiveness matters.

Custom metal fabrication solutions for your manufacturing project

Whether you have detailed drawings ready or are still working through the design phase, we are here to help. Getting a fabricator involved early, before documentation is finalised, often reduces both cost and rework later in the project.

If your specifications are confirmed, request a quote and we will come back to you with a detailed response. If you are still in the planning stage, we are happy to provide input on material selection, fabrication feasibility and connection details to support your engineering team.

    FAQs

    What is manufacturing metal fabrication?

Manufacturing metal fabrication refers to the process of cutting, forming, welding and finishing metal raw materials to produce components used in manufacturing operations. This includes precision-cut parts, welded assemblies, formed brackets and structural frames used in machinery, production equipment and processing facilities.

What materials do you work with for manufacturing components?

We fabricate components in mild steel, high-tensile steel, structural steel, grade 304 and 316 stainless steel, and aluminium. Material selection depends on the mechanical requirements, operating environment and cost targets for your application.

Can you handle repeat production runs, not just one-off parts?

Yes. We work with manufacturing clients on both one-off prototypes and repeat production runs. Our CNC plasma cutting and fabrication processes are suited to consistent, repeatable output, and we maintain component documentation to support ongoing orders.

What finishing options are available for manufactured components?

We offer sandblasting, in-house painting to specification, powder coating and hot-dip galvanising, either in-house or through our partner network. The right option depends on your corrosion protection requirements and the operating environment of the component.

Do you provide quality assurance documentation?

Yes. Full material traceability and QA documentation are available on request. Where project specifications require it, we can also support non-destructive testing and supply material certificates and test reports.

How early should I involve a fabricator in my manufacturing project?

As early as possible. Involving us during the design phase allows for practical input on material selection, fabrication tolerances and assembly requirements, which can reduce costs and prevent delays once production begins.

Do you service manufacturing businesses outside Perth?

We primarily service Perth metro and regional Western Australia from our Hazelmere and Bellevue workshops, and we also deliver to other Australian states for components such as QLD and NSW.

Can you provide flat pack kits?

We are able to provide flat packed kits for teams that require fabrication on site or in remote areas. The flat packed kit allows teams to have all the parts pre cut, pressed, drilled and tapped ready for fabrication reducing downtime for teams to fabricate components.
