Introduction
When a client approached Weld East Fabricators in December 2024 requiring a custom bracket to mount a MOXA electric unit, the brief came with a specific challenge: the bracket needed to support both the newly designed MOXA unit and the legacy model simultaneously. With a project scope requiring over 30 units and kits, and an urgent on-site deadline, our team moved quickly to design and produce a reliable, fit-for-purpose assembly.
The client’s specifications also required the bracket to account for vibration, adding a critical engineering consideration to the design process. Our team drew on its fabrication experience to deliver a solution that addressed every requirement without compromising on quality or turnaround time.
Project Focus and Challenges
The primary challenge centred on designing a single bracket capable of accommodating two different MOXA electric unit configurations: the newly designed model and the older legacy unit. Both units needed to be securely mounted using the same assembly, which required careful dimensional planning and precise fabrication tolerances.
Vibration resistance was a key specification from the outset. The bracket had to perform reliably in an operational environment where movement and vibration are ongoing factors. Our design incorporated these requirements directly, ensuring the final assembly would hold the MOXA electric unit securely under real-world conditions.
The client also required a fast turnaround. With more than 30 units and kits needed to fulfil the project scope, our team prioritised both design accuracy and production efficiency. Meeting the client’s timeline while maintaining the quality standards our clients rely on was central to how we approached this project.
Project Outcomes
The first 10 units were completed and delivered on 30 January 2025, approximately seven weeks after the initial client engagement on 11 December 2024. The assembly performed as designed, and the client confirmed the new bracket met all requirements for both the updated and legacy MOXA electric unit configurations.
Following the successful deployment of the initial batch, the client has since placed orders for additional units. This continued engagement reflects the reliability of the fabricated assembly and the confidence the client has in our team’s ability to deliver consistent results across ongoing production runs.
This project demonstrates our capacity to respond to complex, time-sensitive fabrication challenges with practical engineering solutions. From initial brief to delivery, our team managed the design, fabrication, and supply of a custom component that solved a dual-compatibility problem and met a tight project deadline. If your project requires a custom fabrication solution, our team is ready to assist.
